Step 1: Decide What You Are Actually Booking

Be clear about the product. A Bali air balloon ride means a tethered ascent — the balloon rises on a line to 30–50 metres, holds for several minutes, and descends. Step 2: Reserve Direct, Not Through a Reseller

The tethered balloon operates from a private estate outside Ubud. Reserve directly with the venue — by phone, WhatsApp or its own website — rather than through third-party platforms. Direct booking matters here for a practical reason: the balloon stands down in wind above roughly 15–20 km/h, and when that happens the venue reschedules direct guests first. Reseller bookings sit in a queue behind them. Direct rates we collected in June 2026 ran IDR 500,000–1,500,000 per person depending on whether breakfast, photos or a private slot is bundled in.

For helicopter tours, book with the charter company itself; seats price from about USD 250–300 for a 15-minute coastal route, and whole-aircraft charters start near IDR 4,000,000. Step 3: Pick the Right Slot

Insist on terms that give you a free rebooking or a full refund when the operator cancels for wind or rain. Decline any operator offering only credit notes. Deposits of 30–50 percent are normal for private packages; full prepayment for a standard slot is also common and fine, provided the weather clause is in writing.

Two Mistakes That Cost Money

Paying for a “sunrise free flight over Ubud.” Listings using that language are selling either the tethered ride dressed up in borrowed photography, or a voucher for an experience that will be quietly “rescheduled” until you give up.
